Zhu san (PNAS vol.108 #16)
Three papers were introduced by Zhu san today, and I was interested in the third one (p6450). This paper describes transient interactions between SRP and SR, by using EPR and FRET. What was intriguing is that charged clusters are found both SRP and SR surfaces, and they form the interaction surfaces. Charge reversing mutations destroy SRP-SR interaction, as has seen in FliG and MotA of E. coli motor. SRP has a similar structure to FlhF, which is a component to determine flagellar location, so somehow it relates to us!
